There’s no need to stress about matching with your fiancé, simply coordinate!
Not sure what types of colors to wear? I’ve got you covered! Dark colors usually work best, with simplistic patterns, so that they don’t detract from the most important focus of the portrait, you and your fiancé! White is very popular color to wear for engagement photos but it can sometimes wash you out! If you want to incorporate white items of clothing, I would recommend layering it with a sweater or jacket!
3. Here’s your excuse to get a fresh manicure! If you like to wear nail polish on your fingers, then make sure they have a fresh coat! Chipped polish does not photograph well and distracts from the beauty of the portrait.
4. Make sure to apply makeup evenly and neatly, don’t try out a smokey eye look for the first time the morning of your session 😉
Lip color is great or lip balm, since dry lips will show up on camera. If you would like to use a professional make-up artist before your session to relieve stress, Shasta Hankins has a studio downtown across from mine and is absolutely incredible! If your engagement session is taking place in another city, just reach out and ask me for recommendations! I’ve worked with artists all over the PNW!
5. Wear shoes that are comfortable! This doesn’t mean that you can’t wear your cute heels! Just bring those with you. I always can store extra shoes in my backpack. You can change your shoes when we get to the location of the photos! This is especially great if we’re hiking or walking a lot!
All in all, just be yourself! Don’t overthink it when it comes to your wardrobe because at the end of the day, it’s all about celebrating your love with a fun shoot! Come as you are. I’ll tell you where to put your hands and move the hair out of your face, just be prepared to laugh till your cheeks hurt!
